Educational Employees Credit Union Recognizes Local Leaders with the Fresno County Educator of the Year Awards
Educational Employees Credit Union is proud to give back to Fresno and recognize the leaders in the community who make a difference with their continued dedication and innovation. Nowhere are these values more represented than with the hardworking educators, school employees and administrators of the Fresno County school districts, which is why Educational Employees Credit Union has been sponsoring the annual Fresno County Educator of the Year Awards since 1991.
Educational Employees Credit Union hosted the 2012 Fresno County Educator of the Year Awards on November 7, 2012, in partnership with the Fresno County Office of Education (FCOE). During the formal evening ceremony, awards were presented to the 2012 winners in the categories of Employee of the Year, Administrator of the Year, and Teacher of the Year.
“We salute past and present honorees and acknowledge their many achievements and contributions to education,” said Elizabeth J. Dooley, President and CEO of Educational Employees Credit Union, in a message to educators. “This awards program would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the many FCOE employees whose passion for this event creates a memorable evening for all.”
Winners of the 2012 Fresno County Educator of the Year Awards
Nominees for the 2012 Fresno County Educator of the Year Awards were chosen from among all classified employees, administrators and teachers in the thirty-four districts of Fresno County. From a pool of more than twenty nominees in each category, three finalists were chosen.
The winners were announced during the awards ceremony:
- Employee of the Year: Salvador Cisneros, Jr., Instructional Aide at Burrel Union Elementary School
Recognized for inspiring students to succeed.
- Administrator of the Year: Edward Gomes, Principal of Yosemite Middle School
Recognized for improving student performance school-wide.
- Teacher of the Year: William T. “Coach Mag” Magnusson, Teacher and Coach at Firebaugh High School
Recognized for motivating students on the field and in the classroom.
Each of the evening’s winners were presented with a replica of a bronze sculpture entitled, “The Three R’s,” work of late sculptor Clement Renzi. The sculpture, commissioned by Educational Employees Credit Union, depicts three students in the act of learning, and symbolizes the values upheld by the Fresno County Educator of the Year Awards of high standards, hard work, and dedication. The nominees and finalists also received a framed limited-edition art print of the original sculpture as recognition for their dedication.
